Beaver Safari in Soomaa National Park

European beavers (Castor fiber)  was once widespread in Europe, where they was hunted to near extinction both for fur and for castoreum, a secretion of its scent gland believed to have medicinal properties. Estonia has a healthy population of beavers, in Soomaa National Parks these animal can be seen on the river during night.

You are welcome to join a guided night trip that includes 2 hours walk to peat-bog and 3 hours beaver-watching trip by canoeing on the river. Departures leaving every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday afternoon 6 pm during the summer (May – September).
