Estonian Member of European Parliament mr. Tunne Kelam visited Soomaa National Park. Wilderness in Europe, nature tourism and PAN Parks network was discussed. PAN Parks, the European wilderness protection organisation, cooperates with Soomaa National Park since 2010.

Fifth Season of 2012 receives much more international visitors than previous years. Yesterday arrived my old friend Satto from Tokyo. He has been discovering the wilderness of Soomaa twice before, but never experienced the flood season. Now he decided to take a break at the work and come for a week to go paddling trip in floodplain forest and see the fenomenum of natural floods – the Fifth Season.

According to statistics of soomaa.com also following nationalities have paddled on flooded Soomaa during last week : czech (2), slovenian (1), hungarian (1), germans (17), swedes (6), finns (2), 1 resident of Nigeria, 1 american from Alabama, spanish (2) and group of TV-filmmakers from Latvia and Lithuania.

Latvian and Lithuanian national TV visited flooded Soomaa by invitation of Estonian Tourist Board. Canoes was provided by 360.ee, Algis was guiding.

Water level in flooded Soomaa national park rised last day yesterday, and according to measurments of Riisa hydrological station reached 4 metres and 1 millimeter !

Now it is going slowly down, Flood is still there whole week, but level is less and less every day.
