Estonians have been “forest people” already since the ancient times. Forest was their big friend by giving food and offering protection and shelter. This explains why Estonians are still very close to nature. Wild food- is it then cranberries, mushrooms or something else- attract nature lovers and wild food fans every autumn to come to Soomaa also.
Our aim during these wild food and cooking trips is to offer you an opportunity of experiencing the old way of finding and cooking food from the wild. Local guide leads you through the trip by teaching and lightening you about different types of wild food, that can be found in Soomaa forests and bogs. In this informal learning environment you will identify types of wild food with the help of a guide focusing on their usefulness, therapeuthic effect and cooking techinques. Furthermore you have a chance after the trip to cook with locals something delicious out of the wild food you have picked.
NB! For groups (more than 5) we always design a private programme that best suits your wishes, time limits and budget!
