Soomaa.com is a web-site where you can learn about wild side of Estonia. You will find information about how to explore Wilderness Capital of Estonia – Soomaa National Park.
The website is operated by local private company OÜ Viis aastaaega (Five Seasons). We are two local men, Aivar Ruukel and Algis Martsoo, who grew up in the midst of Estonia’s largest pristine wilderness: Soomaa. We have been guiding visitors since 20 years ago, when the cranberry bogs and capercaillie forests in our backyard were designated a national park.
Our local tourism business is certified by PAN Parks and runs in close collaboration with local farmers, nature guides, service providers and park management. Activities and experiences offered include canoeing, bog-walking, mushrooming, berry-picking and foraging, building local dugout canoes, snowshoeing and wildlife tracking.
We also collaborate with a network of partners, small tourism businesses around Estonia. If you wish so we can assist you to organize tours where you can combine different activities and different national parks of Estonia, as well as neighbouring countries of Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Sweden and Russia.
